JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi drivers normally get new license plates every five years but because the legislature didn’t authorize funds for a re-issue this year, the “Birthplace of America’s music” tags featuring BB King’s guitar “Lucille” will stick around for at least another year. The Mississippi Department of Revenue doesn’t know when new plates will be introduced but the department will take up the issue during the next legislative session. The blue guitar tag replaced the Biloxi Lighthouse plate which was introduced in October 2007, honoring the resilience of the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina.
