Update: Winter Storm and Wind Chill Alerts for the Delta

THE DELTA (Ben Caxton) — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of the area that will be in effect until 3:00 PM Tuesday as wintry weather is expected across the Delta beginning tonight and continuing through the day on Tuesday. The weather service says up to three inches of snow may accumulate across the area causing difficult driving conditions, especially tomorrow morning. As of late Monday afternoon the weather serivce has added a Wind Chill Advisory for Tuesday night through Wednesday morning.

…WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 3 PM CST TUESDAY…

…WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM TUESDAY TO 10 AM CST WEDNESDAY…

* WHAT…Accumulating snow expected. Very low wind chills expected. Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the morning commute on Tuesday. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 3 inches are expected. Expect wind chills in single digits to near zero, especially on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

* WHERE…Ashley, Chicot, Bolivar, Sunflower, Leflore, and Washington counties and Morehouse Parish.

* WHEN…For the Winter Storm Warning, 6 PM tonight to 3 PM Tuesday. For the Wind Chill Advisory, 6 PM Tuesday to 10 AM Wednesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Look for reductions in visibility at times due to snow. Long exposure to the low wind chills may cause frostbite to exposed sk in.

* AFFECTED AREAS: BOLIVAR … LEFLORE … SUNFLOWER … WASHINGTON

Instructions:

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
