JONESTOWN, MS (Ben Caxton) — After being understaffed for years, the city of Jonestown could have as many as three police officers by the first of July. The Clarksdale Press-Register reports that the city council recently voted to allow chief Rico Smith to work 32 hours per week and is expected to bring back two officers who had been laid off. Mayor Kenny Lester says Coahoma County Sheriff’s officers have dedicated two officers to work patrol Jonestown on Smith’s days off.
