By March, individuals who receive checks from Social Security, the Veterans Administration or other programs will have the money deposited directly to a bank account or loaded onto a debit card. The Greenville City Council has voted to work with the Mississippi Center for Justice on an education campaign to make people aware of the change. The Center for Justice plans a Go Direct Deposit Fair for February to help people get set up with a bank account or a debit card so they can start receiving payments electronically. The change was a federal decision that has been talked about for quite some time.
