A Greenville man is headed to prison for as assault in 2010

Samuel Powell was sentenced to 12 years in prison with seven to serve and five suspended for aggravated assault. He was arrested in February 2010 for allegedly robbing a man, beating him up and throwing him into a ditch on the side of Douglass Road. The victim was discovered by a motorist who saw an arm sticking up from the ditch. Powell is at the Washington County Jail awaiting transfer into the Department of Corrections system.
