79-year-old Woman Robbed by Teenagers in Greenwood

GREENWOOD, MS (Ben Caxton) — Two Greenwood teenagers are behind bars after being arrested for a Tuesday robbery of a 79-year-old woman. 19-year-old Kendarius Hunt and 17-year-old Demarkee Lee were taken into custody Thursday and charged with armed robbery. They are being held in the Leflore County Jail. Greenwood Police Chief Ray Moore told the Greenwood Commonwealth Newspaper that the men forced their way into a business owned by the woman, who was not identified around 5:15 PM Tuesday. One of the men threatened her with a gun, the other struck her on the right side of her head. She was treated at the scene for injuries, but not hospitalized. According to the report, the suspects then proceeded to check her for money, and they also attempted to open the cash register but were unsuccessful.
