6th Grader Who Committed Suicide Said He Was Bullied

SOUTHAVEN, MS (Ben Caxton) — The parents of a 6th grade Mississippi boy who killed himself say he was bullied at school after saying he might be bisexual. 12-year-old Andy Leach left a note for his family before hanging himself in the family garage. After his death, on March 6th his parents learned that other Southaven Middle School students called their son worthless and ugly and threatened to beat him up. Matt Leach and Cheryl Hudson say the school district doesn’t enforce its policy of zero tolerance for bullying. The district says it encourages anyone aware of bullying to report it to school officials so that they can respond appropriately.
