$5m in Annual Losses Threatens Greenville Hospital’s Existence

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Greenville’s Delta Regional Medical Center is piling up losses in excess of $400,000 per month. Hospital officials told Washington County Supervisors this week that unless something is done to stem the bleeding, the hospital may end up closing. Hospital CEO Scott Christensen said they’ve recently seen a surge in admissions of people with either no insurance or paying out of pocket which is contributing to the shortfall and raising rates for other people who depend on the facility. Delta Regional Medical Center is the only level three trauma center in the Mississippi Delta.
