$500,000 Bond For Greenville Teenager

GREENVILLE, MS (Ben Caxton) — A Greenville teenager accused of killing his stepfather made his first court appearance on Wednesday. At the hearing, 17-year-old Berdell Willis III had bond set at $500,000 by municipal court Judge Michael Prewitt. Willis was arrested by police on Monday after finding 45-year-old Darrell Lee Lafayette, lying in the bedroom of the home, in bed, dead, with an injury to the head area. Authorities believe the murder may have stemmed from previous problems between the Willis and Lafayette. Willis is being charged as an adult with one count of murder and is being housed at the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility.
