3rd District Congressman Will Not Run Again

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi GOP Congressman Gregg Harper will not be seeking re-election at the end of his term in 2019 according to a report yesterday on CNN. The five-term congressman who was first elected in 2008 represents Mississippi’s 3rd District which stretches from Southwest Mississippi, northeast through Jackson into East Central Mississippi. Harper, chair of the House Administration Committee, is rumored to be on the short-list of candidates to be appointed to fill Senator Thad Cochran’s seat should Cochran resign due to health issues.
