$300,000 Federal Grant To Cleanup Clarksdale Blight

CLARKSDALE, MS (Ben Caxton) — Clarksdale will receive $300,000 of federal money to begin cleaning up blighted areas of the city. Mayor Bill Luckett announced the grants on Friday, and the EPA grants will fund hazard assessments on properties in the 18th Street neighborhood and Brickyard area that contain petroleum and other hazardous waste. Clarksdale’s grants are part of nearly $3 million in Brownfield grants to clean up polluted areas in Mississippi.
