$2M Grant to Help Modernize Mississippi 9-1-1 Systems

JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi will get nearly $2 million as part of a grant program from the U.S. Departments of Commerce and Transportation to modernize and improve 911 systems across the state, paying for improvements like adding digital and IP network capabilities to 911 emergency call centers and implementation of advanced mapping systems making it easier to identify a 911 caller’s location. A total of $109 million was issued to 34 states and two tribal nations.
