21-year-old Found Shot Dead in Monticello

MONTICELLO, AR (Ben Caxton) — A Monticello man was found dead of apparent gunshot wounds at a Monticello apartment complex early Tuesday morning. 21-year-old Ja’Marius Raymon Lewis was found along a walkway at the Turtle Creek Apartments on North Slemmons by police around 12:55 AM. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. Special Agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division are assisting the Monticello Police in their investigation and said in a news release that it is believed Lewis was shot outside one of the apartments. The body has been sent to the State Crime Lab to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
