Washington County residents speak out about crime

A meeting was held at the Washington County Convention Center last night for residents concerned about violence, break-ins and other criminal activity affecting their quality of life. Residents discussed ways to make the community safer and to assist law enforcement in solving and preventing crimes.






Alcorn State University has been designated as StormReady

Alcorn State has been designated as StormReady by the National Weather Service. It is the fifth university in Mississippi to receive the designation. To qualify, a StormReady location must meet certain criteria, such as establishing a 24-hour warning point and emergency operations center and promoting readiness through community seminars.

Two Greenville men are facing prison sentences for an alleged large-scale marijuana distribution scheme. After an investigation that spanned four states, two Greenville men face prison time for the alleged intent to distribute marijuana.
