JACKSON, MS (Ben Caxton) — Mississippi’s Charter School Authorizer Board has accepted letters of intent for 17 new charter schools. Five charter schools have been authorized so far; three are operating in Jackson with new schools scheduled to open this fall in Jackson and Clarksdale. Among the new proposals are five more for Jackson plus three in Greenwood, a K-through-8 school in Cleveland and a high school for Mound Bayou. The board will ultimately choose from among finalists in September.
