15 Years for First Degree Murder

MONTICELLO, AR (Ben Caxton) — A Dumas woman has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars on a first-degree murder conviction. On August 30th of 2017 26-year-old Kannika Jenkins took her daughter to Drew Memorial Hospital where the child died shortly after arrival. A month-long investigation revealed that child had suffered blunt force trauma to the torso area causing her death and Jenkins was arrested in October. A jury convicted Jenkins in Monticello Tuesday and she was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
