100 Woman Attend Empowerment Meeting in Cleveland

CLEVELAND, MS (Ben Caxton) — Over 100 women met up with the Delta’s “Boss Lady” Pam Chatman and the Magnolia State’s First Lady Deborah Bryant on Wednesday in Cleveland. The event, part of Coca Cola’s Global Initiative 5by20 Women Empowerment project, centered on empowering women throughout the Delta and the state of Mississippi to create economic growth, and provide an opportunity for women to talk with different agencies within Bolivar County that could offer opportunities for workforce and career readiness training, GED, and secondary education, job opportunities. First Lady Bryant told Delta Daily News that she was “excited about the opportunities that can happen in the Delta and the state when you have people like Pam Chatman” to help create sustainable growth and a better lifestyle for women by encouraging them to become entrepreneurs or skilled workers adding that Chatman’s “love for the Mississippi Delta and women” in Mississippi is “contagious”. The event was held at the United Baptist Church Lois Rash Family Life Center.
